Wellington and end of Australia :(
Day 24
We woke up early and hiked up Mount Victoria. The hike was modest and it was only 196 metres high.
At the top of mountain, we were able to see the skyline of Wellington
A significant symbol of New Zealand is the fern tree leaf, similar to a maple leaf to Canada. Below, Jessica was holding a branch of fern tree leaves.
After climbing down Mount Victoria, we walked around Cuba Street of Wellington.
We spent the rest of the day relaxing at Freyberg Beach in Wellington before heading to the airport.
After spending our day at the beach, we drove to the airport and returned the car. This is towards the end of my amazing exploration adventure in the continent of Australia. Catherine and Jessica continued to move on to explore southern New Zealand, while I flew back to Toronto.
However, my flight to Toronto was not scheduled till 6 am of the next day. I planned to stay overnight and sleep in the airport. However, to my knowledge, the private airport was supposed to close from 2 am to 4 am. As such, I had to ask the security guard nicely to allow me to stay in the food court area of the airport. Thankfully, he granted me this request and I stayed at the airport for the next 12 hours with a big Gollum statue.
Day 25
After 12 hours of wait, 5 hours of flight to Sydney, 3 hour layover at Sydney, 17 hour flight to Vancouver, 1 hour layover at Vancouver, and 4 hours of flight, I have finally arrived at Toronto.
